Job Description
Summary of Duties:
The role of the CV Perfusionist is the operation of the heart/lung machine during open-heart surgery, as well as I.A.B.P., cell savers, ECLS/VAD and C.P.B. emergency support. The CV Perfusionist works collaboratively with the surgeon and all members of the team throughout the patient\xe2\x80\x99s perioperative experience to promote optimal patient outcomes. This position requires someone with expert clinical and evidence-based practice, grounded in theoretical knowledge, advanced education, experience, teaching and research. They will assist in providing a safe working environment for perioperative personnel and patients.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Graduate of an accredited perfusion program
- At least one year working as a staff perfusionist (preferred)
- Successful completion of the C.S.C.P. certification exams
- Flexible and strong team player
- Able to work well independently under stressful conditions
- Promotes collegiality, teambuilding, leadership and conflict resolution
- Maintains the standards of C.S.C.P.
- Willing to participate in ongoing educational opportunities and development
- Models professional behaviour
- Demonstrated ability to exercise critical thinking
