HIRING SALARY RANGE: $84,403.00 - $94,954.00 per annum

MAXIMUM OF SALARY RANGE: $105,504.00 per annum

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Performing Arts at the City of Brampton is a highly visible municipal portfolio that supports the City\xe2\x80\x99s strategy to provide innovative, creative, high quality arts, culture and entertainment to its residents and to stimulate economic and community development through creative placemaking. The purpose of this position is to take lead responsibility for marketing, sales, and communications for Performing Arts at the City of Brampton in order to increase audiences, hit targets, and promote the City\xe2\x80\x99s Performing Arts brands (primarily comprised of The Rose Theatre and Garden Square) to its fullest. This position is also responsible for providing detailed analysis and insight into campaigns to help inform future strategy and for conducting regular and ongoing audience research to be shared across the Performing Arts department to inform decision making.

  • Marketing activities. Collaborate regularly with the Artistic Director of Performing Arts to ensure a clear and accurate representation of the department\xe2\x80\x99s vision and direction. Supervise the planning and implementation of all marketing, public relations, publications, and sales programs to reach pre-determined goals in earned income through ticket sales. Oversee and maximize email marketing campaigns and social media advertising campaigns. Shape the public perception of Performing Arts in Brampton through the execution of brand identity in print, publications, electronic media, media relations, public events, and physical spaces. Lead initiatives to achieve overarching strategic goals and further develop long-range audience development goals and strategies. Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and provide detailed \xe2\x80\x9cpost mortem\xe2\x80\x9d reports whose learning impacts subsequent campaigns. Analyze patron data to further advance targeted marketing and patron relationship management initiatives. Collaborate with the City\xe2\x80\x99s Communications team to increase the local and national profile of Brampton\xe2\x80\x99s Performing Arts. Collaborate with other internal departments to increase revenue from the theatres\xe2\x80\x99 rental programs and to improve the patron\xe2\x80\x99s overall experience of our theatres.
  • Liaise with stakeholders. Maintain external networks and keep abreast of arts, culture and entertainment marketing best practices. Build and maintain relationships with local community organizations, media, municipal staff, the province and other related sector organizations as appropriate. Prepare and distribute communications about Brampton\xe2\x80\x99s Performing Arts. Develop and monitor customer surveys, and respond to escalated customer concerns.
  • Staff Scheduling and Work Allocation. Ensure proper scheduling and assignment of full-time and part-time staff duties, with attention paid to peak periods and show-by-show customer service needs. Create and monitor work place standards for all roles. Provide task assistance and create a healthy team environment. Make certain staff have information, training to meet customer expectations and to comply with all City Human Resource and legislated (i.e. Health & Safety) regulations. Recruit, oversee and provide staff performance evaluations.
  • Administrative and financial duties. Provide daily supervision of all delivery aspects of marketing support. Prepare and manage budget expenditures and revenues for Marketing section. Develop and report on KPIs in conjunction with management. Ensure all Health & Safety regulations are being met, and that procedures, documentation (i.e. WHMIS) and supplies are in good order.
  • Management support. Encourage an innovative working environment that enables growth in new technology and marketing practices to ensure the vitality of Performing Arts in Brampton. Provide regular communication and reports on daily operations, customer and staff incidents, and customer feedback. Identify new opportunities, new technologies and applications for consideration. Provide potential solutions to emerging issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
SELECTION CRITERIA:

EDUCATION:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Marketing or related field
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • 3 to 5 years related experience in marketing, public relations, communications (in entertainment or leisure industry an asset)
OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:
  • Experience using research to develop sound media strategies, promotional plans and concepts
  • Experience recruiting and supervising full-time and part-time staff; ability to lead in a team environment that is unionized
  • Customer service orientation
  • Established relationships with cultural agencies an asset
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft office; other desktop publishing packages an asset
  • Experience in working with audience databases
  • Experience in working with third party advertisers and media agencies.
