The Opportunity

The People Operations Specialist at Tantalus Labs is an integral role designed to enhance the company\xe2\x80\x99s human resource functions by planning, implementing, and evaluating our people programs. This position is responsible for all activities associated with our human capital, including establishing and maintaining policies, programs, and best practices.

This is a full time position primarily located at our Maple Ridge facility with occasional travel to our Vancouver office as required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Own and develop Tantalus\xe2\x80\x99 talent acquisition strategy, including on-campus recruitment, co-op programs, job fairs, referral programs, etc.
  • Full cycle recruitment, including but not limited to: working closely with department managers and operational leaders to determine future talent needs, write postings, manage a talent acquisition platform, screen, interview, counsel on hiring decisions, and create and support contract negotiation
  • Champion a culture of ongoing talent growth by supporting operational leaders in the development and execution of performance & professional development reviews,
  • Partner with Executives to counsel and train operational leaders and supervisors to grow as strong leaders
  • Administrate performance management process and provide supporting tools in collaboration with senior management
  • Support and advises operational leaders with performance management issues, attends coaching discussions and creates progressive discipline documentation as required
  • Facilitate deployment of employee training modules and tracks training records
  • Lead employee onboarding and orientation processes, including first-day setup, introduction to company policies, and administration of new hire paperwork
  • Develop & support the separation processes by working with, coaching, and providing feedback to managers during and after such events as appropriate.
  • Guide contractual requirements, employment standards legislation, benefits administration, preparation of documentation and liaising with payroll as required
  • Act as the point of contact for payroll administration vendors
  • Administer and deploy health & welfare benefits including periodic RFPs
  • Lead injury management program - leave, disability, injury records ensuring Worksafe compliance
  • Involvement in scheduling, facilitating, and recording safety training across division
  • Involvement in scheduling, coordinating, and participating in Safety Committee meetings, action items, and inspections
Your Competencies
  • Minimum 5+ years broad HR generalist experience with demonstrated capabilities in policy and practice development and implementation. CPHR designation preferred.
  • Self starter with a strong desire to develop and grow high performing staff and leadership teams.
  • Elite relationship management skills and a passion for forging human connections
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong English verbal and written communication skills
  • Leadership abilities anchored in radical candor, trust, empathy, and integrity
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with computer applications
  • Knowledgeable about occupational health and safety regulations
  • Experience with a high-growth company would be considered an asset
