Overview

Are you a data analytics whiz with experience in human resources metrics? We have opportunities for two People & Culture Specialists to support our People & Culture Analytics and Reporting team. These are senior positions that provide an excellent opportunity to build on your analytical and problem solving skills in an active, large organization.

You'll be part of a central team that provides reporting and analysis on all areas of HR using identified data sets, including understanding the business questions of clients, identifying the right data to answer those questions, and analyzing that data to provide insight.

Each of the current opportunities will support one of the following focus areas:

  • Advisory - consults with business clients and presents insights and analysis
  • Technical - develops reporting and dashboards for business clients
These are hybrid positions that will primarily work from home and will occasionally attend our Richmond office.

What you'll do

As a People & Culture Analytics Specialist you will:
  • Under the Advisory Focus:
  • With direction from the Manager of People & Culture Analytics and Reporting, you will work with clients to understand their needs and provide complex reporting and analysis on an ongoing and ad-hoc basis
  • Identify, develop, define, and manage distribution of metrics, measures, and KPIs via annual and quarterly reports for all areas of People & Culture
  • Provide insights and analysis for business client questions, in a way that visually communicates the story of what is happening
  • Collaborate with the technical team in the development of predictive analytics and statistical models
  • Under the Technical focus:
  • Use Microsoft Power BI to connect to our data warehouse and prepare reports and dashboards based on established priority
  • Use PeopleSoft Query to download required data sets and prepare reports using Power BI and/or Excel
  • Partner with our information & technology team to ensure new data sets are brought into the cloud data warehouse and new views and tables are built to enable effective and accurate analysis
  • Maintain security access roles and technical documentation for all Power BI reports as well as table and fields
  • Collaborate with the advisory team in the development of predictive analytics and statistical models

Your background and experience:
  • A degree or a diploma in human resources, data science, computer science, business technology management, information systems, business analytics, or a related discipline
  • Proficient in MS Office suite including Excel, Word, Office, PowerPoint and Teams
  • At least 5 years of experience in a human resources role, including at least 3 years of experience in a data analytics role, preferably in the public sector or a large unionized setting
  • Exposure to an HRIS system (PeopleSoft/Oracle preferred) and knowledge of HR metrics and reporting principals
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) or similar SQL development environment is required
  • CHRP/CPHR designation (or working towards completion) is an asset
  • For the technical focus:
  • Intermediate skills in Power BI or similar data visualization and reporting software
  • Intermediate skills in Excel (filtering and sorting data, formatting, pivot tables, formulas including SUM, SUMIF, AVERAGE, VLOOKUP, IF, INDEX MATCH, etc.)
  • Good working knowledge of relational database concepts and best practices
  • Experience in these additional database, reporting, or statistical tools would be an asset: SSRS, Tableau, Business Objects / SAP - Web Intelligence Performance Point, Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate, SPSS, SAS, Python, R
