Diagnose diseases and physiological disorders Diagnose psychiatric disorders May conduct medical research on human disorders, illnesses, preventive or curative methods Prescribe medication and treatment Refer patients for surgery Treat diseases and physiological disorders Conduct microscopic and chemical analyses of laboratory samples and specimens Study the nature, cause and development of diseases and the structural and functional changes caused by diseases Act as consultants to other physicians Order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures Provide personnal asistance to patients during treatments Diagnose type and severity of diseases Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families Care for, assess and monitor the health of newborns and refer infants to appropriate medical services as required Provide advice and guidance regarding care for newborns and young infants Diagnose patients' diseases and disorders Provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues Treat patients suffering from malnutrition or gastrointestinal disorders
