Little Cubs is seeking a dedicated and motivated Pedagogy Lead to join our team. The Pedagogical Leader plays a key leadership role in guiding the curriculum, mentoring educators, and ensuring the centre's learning environment reflects the values and principles of both the Finnish Curriculum and Ontario's Early Learning Framework (ELECT & HDLH?). This position is ideal for an experienced and passionate RECE with strong pedagogical knowledge, leadership abilities, and a collaborative spirit.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Implementation & Development
Lead the implementation of the Finnish Curriculum alongside Ontario's frameworks.
Ensure daily routines incorporate core concepts of "How does learning happen"(belonging, expression, engagement, and well-being). Fostering the use and understanding of HDLH recognizing and making connections.
Ensure programming supports children's curiosity, independence, and overall well-being.
Support educators in designing inquiry-based, child-centred learning experiences.
Regularly review and enhance pedagogical practices to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Participate and support Reflective practice.
Staff Mentorship & Leadership
Act as a mentor to classroom educators, supporting their professional growth.
Facilitate reflective practice and pedagogical discussions during team meetings.
Observe classroom practices and provide constructive feedback.
Coordinate professional development opportunities aligned with centre goals.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with centre supervisor and leadership team to align pedagogy with operational goals.
Foster strong partnerships with families through transparent communication and curriculum sharing.
Promote a collaborative and inclusive team culture based on mutual respect and trust.
Documentation & Quality Assurance
Oversee documentation of learning (pedagogical documentation) and ensure it reflects children's voices and interests.
Support compliance with licensing regulations and quality standards.
Participate in internal evaluations and contribute to the centre's continuous improvement plan.
Qualifications
Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
Minimum 3 years of experience in a licensed early learning environment.
Demonstrated leadership experience in a pedagogical or mentoring capacity is an asset.
Deep understanding of the Finnish Curriculum or willingness to engage in extensive training.
Knowledge of How Does Learning Happen?, ELECT, and other Ontario ECE frameworks.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Passion for inquiry-based, child-led learning and educator empowerment.
Valid Standard First Aid and Level "C" CPR.
Negative criminal records check.
