The opportunity

Leduc County is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Peace Officer (Term) to join our team. Reporting to the Manager - Enforcement Services, this exciting opportunity enforces municipal bylaws and provincial statutes to protect county interests and contribute to the safe transportation of people and goods. As a member of the Enforcement Services team, the peace officer contributes to the achievement of the department's operational deliverables.

What you will do

1. Conducts proactive enforcement and public safety activities, while responding to public complaints in compliance with:


The requirements of the Alberta Public Security Peace Officer Program and legislative requirements. Service standards defined in Leduc County's Community Peace Officer Performance Plan. 2. Assists departments with any enforcement issues.


3. Attends and represents Leduc County in court proceedings, as required.


4. Participates in public awareness campaigns and maintains positive public relations.


5. Collaborates and provides joint operations with various regional partners.


6. Adheres to guidelines as set out in Leduc County's policies and administrative directives.


7. Accountable for working in compliance with the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code and participation in the Health, Safety and Wellness Program.


8. Performs related duties as required.

What you need to succeed

Must-have

A certificate or diploma in a recognized law enforcement program, and three years of law enforcement experience, including experience enforcing the Traffic Safety Act.*


Eligibility for and maintenance of Peace Officer appointment in Alberta.

Certification or be able to obtain Emergency Vehicle Operations certification.

The ability to conduct and document investigations and prepare clear, concise reports.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to speak succinctly and confidently in formal settings (i.e. provincial court proceedings).

Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of tools and other database.

Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision. A Class 5 Alberta Driver's license.

Nice to have

Training and experience in commercial vehicle weights and dimensions, small vessel operations and off-highway vehicle operations.

We offer a competitive hourly salary of between $37.30 and $46.50.


The opportunity is temporary full-time (1-year term) and is 40 hours per week scheduled Monday to Friday, with some extended hours to meet operational requirements. The office is located at 101-1101 5 St. Nisku, AB.
