Job Overview


The Payroll / Bookkeeper is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely payroll processing and maintaining complete, organized financial records that support the company's operational and financial integrity. This role requires confidentiality, accuracy, compliance, and consistent support to management and staff.

Responsibilities



1. Payroll Administration



Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll for all staff Enter payroll data (earnings, adjustments, allowances, etc.) and review for accuracy Process employee hours, timesheets, vacation, statutory pay, and deductions Calculate and process direct deposits Ensure all payroll requests are documented and duly authorized Create and distribute pay statements Review and verify employee changes from HR; create or revise employee profiles as needed Prepare Records of Employment (ROEs) and maintain accurate payroll files Ensure compliance with federal/provincial employment standards and internal policies Reconcile and process third-party payments, garnishments, and CRA payroll remittances Manage year-end filings (T4s, summaries) Prepare, verify, and remit employee pension contributions and terminations Respond to inquiries from government agencies, auditors, and stakeholders Address employee payroll inquiries professionally

2. General Accounting & Bookkeeping



Enter all Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and credit card transactions Coordinate and process AR/AP reports for management Perform bank deposits, transfers, and reconciliations daily/weekly Maintain financial records using Sage 50 and other bookkeeping systems Maintain general ledgers and financial statements Post journal entries and assist with monthly financial reporting Prepare tax filings including HST and payroll remittances Complete weekly/monthly bank and credit card reconciliations Support month-end closing and submit financial summaries to WCDC corporate office Maintain petty cash logs, receipts, and expenditure tracking for camp operations Support annual audits and provide documentation as required

3. Administrative & Operational Support



Maintain digital and physical filing systems for finance and payroll documents Assist with employee onboarding and HR-related forms Support Camp Manager and corporate office with reporting, scheduling, and documentation Provide general administrative support as needed Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by management

Skills



Minimum 2 years of experience as a bookkeeper or Payroll Administrator Experience with Sage 50 and Excel required Experience in remote operations, camp services, or multi-company bookkeeping is an asset Strong understanding of payroll legislation, payroll cycles, and accounting fundamentals Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Sage 5 Strong written and verbal communication skills High attention to detail and organizational ability Ability to work independently and meet deadline

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 42 per week
