Job Summary:



Community Builders is looking for a detail-oriented, adaptable, and motivated individual to join our team to support the continuous company growth. This is a position which would be suitable for someone with intermediate experience processing full-cycle payroll administration.

Reports to:

Financial Controller

Days and Hours of work

: Monday- Friday, 9 am - 5 pm

Responsibilities:



1. Ensure accurate and timely processing of biweekly payroll, inclusive of tasks such as: meeting bi-weekly payroll processing deadlines, responding to employee inquiries, updating and verifying payroll data, maintaining internal status changes, processing terminations, and executing manual adjustments.

2. Manage payroll-related bookkeeping tasks, including preparation and control of journal entries (JE), reconciliation of payroll accounts, and timely postings.

3. Processing of T4s at the end of each year

4. Work closely with the HR department to prepare reports required by external stakeholders (Union and benefits providers)

5. Liaise with pension plan providers to ensure compliance

6. Ensure the accuracy of employee timesheets in conjunction with work schedules

7. Issue ROEs and track interruptions in employee earnings

8. Ensure compliance with legal frameworks, best practices, and stay up to date with changes impacting payroll processes

9. Ad hoc duties as assigned to support functions of the accounting and finance department (ie. payables, rent reconciliation)

Qualifications:



A relevant undergraduate degree or diploma in Payroll, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

National Payroll Institute PCP designation is highly preferred

Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience using Payworks

Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in a unionized environment

A good understanding of the Collective Agreement will be highly preferred

Good understanding of Municipal Pension Plan and group benefits

A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in payroll administration

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Must be detail-oriented, organized, able to multitask, and keep thorough and accurate records.

Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to create and maintain good working relationships.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word), Google Suite and Adobe (PDF).

Proven record of taking responsibility and using good judgment, including the exercise of discretion and confidentiality.

Adaptable and flexible with a demonstrated ability to take initiative.

Self-starter with a positive attitude who is comfortable working independently and with a team.

Pay: $65,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
