Job Description

We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in Toronto, Ontario. This role primarily involves managing payroll for North America, with a focus on Ontario. The position is remote, with flexibility to work in-office if preferred.Responsibilities:

• Administer payroll for 150-200 employees across North America, with a primary focus on Ontario
• Utilize ADP software for North American payroll, with a readiness to adapt to other versions or software such as Ceridian
• Assess current payroll processes and propose improvements for increased efficiency
• Manage month-end payroll journals
• Provide support in the daily payroll operations, working closely with the account manager
• Participate in upcoming audits, ensuring all payroll information is accurate and up-to-date
• Handle 401k - RRSP administration, along with other accounting functions
• Respond to payroll inquiries and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner
• Balance the responsibilities of a senior role with hands-on payroll administration tasks
• Navigate accounting software systems effectively to maintain accurate customer credit records and process credit applications efficiently.

• Minimum of 3 years experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role

• Experience processing Canadian and/or US Payroll

• Prior experience with payroll journal entries and month-end processes

• Proficiency in ADP highly preferred

• Intermediate-level Excel

• Strong communication skills, initiative, and attention to detail
