The Role: Reporting to the Director, People and Culture, our Payroll Specialist & Reporting Analyst will be responsible for overseeing and administering all aspects of payroll processes, including reporting requirements for Travel Alberta team members ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This position will also have accountability with respect to People and Culture program and process administration. You are known for your expert level knowledge when it comes to Canadian payroll regulations and possesses excellent analytical, data entry, problem-solving, customer service and communication skills. You understand the importance and defined value exceptional administration of key programs and process adds to team member experience overall inside an organization. You are consistently called upon to generate reports, manipulate data sets, run reporting scenarios and are an individual who\'s excel skills are actively sought out by leaders and colleagues. Curiosity and a keen interest in continuous research are attributes you are recognized for. Expertise in ADP and familiarity with JazzHR would be considered an asset. What you will be doing: Payroll and Reporting

  • Administer overall payroll operations and ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll for all team members (management, union, full time and temporary)
  • Handle all aspects of ADP data administration including queries, configuration and maintenance of time and attendance, including vacation
  • Assist with the governance i.e., required review and revisions and maintenance of =payroll related policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Provincial and Federal regulations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, and IT, to ensure seamless integration of payroll processes with other business functions
  • Conduct audits of payroll data, ensuring accuracy. Facilitate investigation of data discrepancies/errors and resolve in a timely manner
  • Stay up to date with changes in Canadian payroll legislation and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports, including year-end tax forms, to government authorities and internal stakeholders
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of payroll software, ensuring it aligns with Canadian payroll regulations and internal policies
  • Administer all required onboarding and offboarding processes in partnership with the Human Resources Business Partner
  • Administer benefit and pension processes and facilitate requited paperwork submissions / personal information updates
  • Support team members when leaves of absence are approved
  • Manage the administration of required return to work support
  • Manage the administration of the WCB processes including supporting team members and leaders in submitting injury reporting paperwork in accordance to legislated timelines
  • Handle sensitive team member information ensuring confidentiality and integrity of data
  • Provide guidance and support to team members and leaders regarding payroll-related inquiries, issues, and policies
  • Support the Finance team with respect to audits and ensure work and process administration complies with audit requirements
  • Generate reports as requested, and establish quarterly reporting requirements needed by senior leaders, Finance and People and Culture team
  • Manipulate data sets and look for trend lines, be proactive managing vacation accrual and share insights to assist with managing risk
  • Assist with the development and management of People and Culture key performance indicators (KPI\'s), establishing core measures of success that feed expenditure decisions and budgetary considerations

People and Culture Program Administration Recruitment
  • Assume responsibility for all onboarding administration needs, creating master templates for letters, proposed annual revisions, reducing paper reliance by 90%
Onboarding
  • Manage end to end the administration of Travel Alberta\'s onboarding and orientation programs and program scheduling
Offboarding
  • Facilitate all administration and scheduling aspects of offboarding programs and reporting
Performance Management
  • Facilitate Travel Alberta\'s annual performance score card process administering completion timelines, template refreshes, mid year review cycles, document collection and formatting review, and assist people leaders with updating learning and development milestones automatically in score cards
Engagement
  • Generate reports and insights from regular team member surveys, and assist with administration support in Travel Alberta\'s engagement tool, including actions and reports to people leaders across the organization that identify high impact opportunities.
Who we are looking for:
  • Professional certification such as the Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designations are highly desirable
  • 5 years of direct payroll administration and reporting experience
  • 1 year if human resources generalist experience or direct exposure to administration needs
  • Strong understanding of federal, provincial, and local payroll regulations
  • Experience in union and non union work environments
  • Experience with ADP as a payroll system, confirmed experience in optimizing payroll systems
  • Dedicated experience with external reporting: government, crown corporations or non for profit experience is a significant asset
  • Robust system experience with ability to learn and adapt to new processes and technologies
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • Sophisticated proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to manipulate data sets
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and payroll best practices
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet aggressive timelines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members at all levels of the organization
