We currently have an opportunity for a PAYROLL SPECIALIST, based in Toronto, who thrives on details, deadlines, and delivering value. POSITION OVERVIEW:
Our Payroll Specialist will manage and process complex client payrolls with a high degree of accuracy and discretion. They'll handle everything from salaried employees to contractors and talent-based variable compensation. The ideal candidate has experience working in fast-paced, client-focused environments -- and understands that accuracy in payroll is non-negotiable.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients (weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly)
Maintain payroll records, process new hires, terminations, and employee changes
Handle T4s, ROEs, and year-end reconciliations
Ensure all payrolls are compliant with federal/provincial legislation
Work closely with clients and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate payment cycles
Respond to client inquiries related to payroll, deductions, benefits, and CRA submissions
Liaise with bookkeeping, tax, and advisory teams to ensure payroll data integrates seamlessly across services
Stay updated on changes to payroll laws and best practices in Canada
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of payroll experience, preferably within a public accounting firm or multi-client environment
Strong understanding of Canadian payroll regulations and compliance
Comfortable managing multiple client files at once
Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of QuickBooks Online is an asset
PCP designation is a bonus, but not required
