Job Overview


As a Payroll and Benefits Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll and benefits for our drivers travelling across Canada and the U.S. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of payroll systems, benefits administration, and employment legislation. You'll work closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to deliver seamless payroll operations and exceptional employee service.

Duties



Process weekly payroll for drivers paid by the hour or by the mile, driving across different provinces in Canada and the U.S. Manage driver benefits, including setting up new enrollments, making changes, and helping resolve any issues. Prepare monthly payroll expense reports with insights and trends. Make sure all payroll and benefits processes follow company policies and federal, provincial, and state laws. Keep driver records up to date in payroll and benefits systems. Answer driver questions about payroll, benefits, and system issues in a professional and confidential manner. Help with Records of Employment (ROEs) and other payroll-related paperwork. Work closely with the Payroll & Benefits Supervisor on daily tasks and ways to improve processes. Create and update documentation for payroll processes, and build custom reports as needed. Support system-based improvements by understanding how the company is structured. Help with year-end tasks like preparing T4s, T4As, T2200s, and remittance filings. Take on other related duties as assigned.

Experience



Post-secondary education in a related field (University degree or College diploma preferred). Minimum 2 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration. PCP certification is an asset. Experience with TMS is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll and benefits regulations. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality. Strong customer service orientation and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $19.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
