Payroll Specialist

to support ongoing growth and ensure accurate, timely payroll processes.

Job Scope:


The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for managing and executing end-to-end payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees within a dynamic and fast-paced oilfield services environment. This position ensures compliance with federal and provincial regulations, internal policies, and collective agreements where applicable. The role requires high attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:



Process full-cycle payroll on a bi-weekly and semi-monthly basis for field and office staff Verify timesheets, reconcile hours, and ensure proper coding of job and cost centers Calculate and process overtime, vacation, bonuses, and other payroll adjustments Maintain and update employee records in payroll and HRIS systems Ensure payroll compliance with Alberta Employment Standards and CRA regulations Prepare and remit payroll-related government filings, including ROEs, T4s, and WCB Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and benefits with professionalism and discretion Collaborate with HR and accounting teams to support audits, reporting, and year-end activities Support onboarding and offboarding processes from a payroll perspective Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements in payroll systems and procedures

Qualifications & Experience:



3+ years of experience in payroll administration, preferably in oil and gas or industrial sectors PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation or working toward certification Proficiency with payroll software (such as ADP, Ceridian, or Payworks) and MS Excel Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, CRA regulations, and Alberta labour standards Exceptional accuracy, problem-solving ability, and time management skills Experience handling confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

Work Environment:



Office-based in Grande Prairie, AB Monday to Friday, full-time hours Occasional extended hours during payroll deadlines or year-end
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $28.00-$38.00 per hour
