Job Description

Our client located in Ottawa is looking for a Payroll Processing Manager to join their team for a short-term contract and then potentially full-time.

\xe2\x80\x8b\xe2\x80\x8b\xe2\x80\x8bYou will be supervising a team who is performing end-to-end payroll processing. This company currently utilizes UKG, an HCM application.

What you will be doing:

• Supervise a team of 5 payroll specialists within a large investment and asset management organisation.
• Manage a team performing end-to-end payroll processing
• Review tax notices being submitted from the state to assess the root cause - UKG issue, code issue, etc.
• Help register businesses and unregister businesses in the US states then work with HR Business Analyst to have these updates provided to UKG
• Conduct reviews of local tax requirements
• Perform quality control audits to ensure accuracy
• Oversee changes to employment contracts and new employee\'s contracts and terminations
• Manage the preparation of all Provincial, State and Federal tax obligations
• Review and approve all payroll payments
• Resolve payroll enquiries in a professional manner
• Other ad hoc issues that arise including Process/Control improvements, implementations etc.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Payroll Processing
• Experience with Payroll HCM Applications (UKG preferred, Ceridian Dayforce, ADP, Workday, Oracle, etc.)
• Strong understanding of payroll compliance and tax implications
• Knowledge of general payroll compliance and payroll practices, procedures, operations, and Canadian/US legislation
• Team Management experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced computer software skills, Word and Excel and other accounting/payroll packages
• Bachelor\'s Degree in Human Resources, Finance or Economics
