About the Role



Altex Industries Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented

Payroll Coordinator

to ensure the

timely and accurate delivery of payroll

in compliance with Company policies, union agreements, and government regulations. This role manages

weekly payroll for up to 800 Field employees

, provides back-up support for

bi-weekly Shop and Salaried payrolls

, and oversees a wide range of payroll administration activities.

Key Responsibilities



Payroll processing and reporting - Financial, Payroll Compliance, Union & Benefits. Coordinate day-to-day payroll administration activities per assigned payroll organization. Ensure union fringes, deductions, and pays are current. Process weekly payroll for 800+ Field employees; provide back-up for Shop and Salaried payrolls. Maintain employee master files in

ADP Workforce Now

including new hires, rehires, transfers (cross payroll), terminations, wage and benefit changes, and system interfaces. Process all pay-related activities: bonuses, direct deposit, vacation pay, EI top-ups, etc. Enter, edit, audit, and reconcile payroll activities to ensure integrity and accuracy. Respond to payroll-related information requests from internal and external stakeholders. Maintain ongoing awareness of payroll legislation, taxation, Service Canada requirements, and union obligations. Prepare payroll and compliance reports: unions, tax remittances, month-end, third-party, and management reporting. Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and Operations to resolve payroll discrepancies. Support year-end processes, including T4s and government filings.

Qualifications & Skills



PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation required; CPM (Certified Payroll Manager) designation an asset.

5+ years of payroll experience

in high-volume, unionized, multi-province environments. Experience managing payroll for 800+ employees. Strong knowledge of

accounting principles and procedures.

Hands-on experience with

ADP Workforce Now

and

Synerion

. Excellent knowledge of payroll legislation, union requirements, and compliance reporting. Proficiency with payroll systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Exceptional

time management, work ethic, and attention to detail.

Ability to maintain the highest degree of

confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.
