We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Clerk to assist with processing and supporting payroll. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of payroll experience and would preferably have Ceridian experience and demonstrate a strong understanding of payroll systems, as well as possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing
Accurately enter and process employee and contractor hours, overtime, vacation, sick time, and other pay-related data.
Maintain and update payroll records and employee profiles (e.g., new hires, terminations, pay adjustments, and leave) in systems such as Ceridian.
Ensure timely and accurate processing of biweekly payroll, including direct deposits, pay stubs, and all statutory deductions.
Respond to and resolve payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies promptly.
Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll legislation and internal company policies.
Submit payroll-related taxes, benefits deductions, and other required remittances accurately and on time.
Assist with payroll audits, reconciliations, and year-end reporting (e.g., T4s).
Generate and distribute payroll reports to internal stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications:
1-2 years of experience in payroll or a related administrative role.
Basic understanding of payroll laws and employment standards in Alberta.
Experience with payroll software (e.g., Ceridian) preferred.
Proficiency in MS Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
High attention to detail, confidentiality, and organizational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Nice to Have:
Exposure to benefits administration or HR support functions.
Familiarity with payroll reconciliations and reporting.
Working toward or interested in obtaining a Canadian
Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP)
designation
