As a member of the People & Culture team, this position is responsible for the following:
Co-ordinates the processing of all payroll information (i.e. adhering to all deadlines, complying with federal and provincial legislative requirements; providing lead direction to timekeepers, providing advice and guidance, providing policy and guideline interpretation, etc.).
Updates all adjustments and changes to employee master files (i.e. establishing garnishments from other agencies and monitoring the repayment, extended leave, insurance and pension eligibility, pension eligibility etc.).
Issues various payments and benefit adjustments (i.e. ensures employees' benefits are not overdrawn, annual leave, etc.).
+ Performs salary adjustments as needed (i.e. retroactive payments for changes in collective agreements, grievances, step increase review, allowance payouts etc.).
+ Issues various payments and benefit adjustments. Compiles biweekly remittances for finance and monthly remittance for HAPSET.
+ Completes and balances year end benefit banks.
+ Prepares T4 slips yearly and employee Records of Employment and Requests for Payroll Information as required.
Consults with employees and managers to resolve payroll issues.
Initiates Workers Compensation claims in the payroll system.
Liases with external agencies (i.e. Revenue Canada, Pensions Division, Service Canada, Union, etc.) as required.
Maintain accurate payroll records and provide payroll information.
Supports and assists with the ongoing management, optimization, and enhancement of the newly implemented UKG Human Resources Management System (HRMS).
The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:
Completion of a recognized two (2) year accounting or business diploma from a post-secondary institution.
Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role.
Completion of the National Payroll Institution Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) or Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) would be considered an asset.
Ability to multitask, prioritize and accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
Strong attention to detail with good organizational skills.
Knowledge of/experience with Hunam Resources Management Systems (HRMS), particularly for payroll processing and employee data management, would be considered an asset.

Salary:CG 29: $53,839.50 - $59,806.50 annual
