Genoa is an organization with over 250 employees across Canada and a small team in the United States. As we continue to expand, we're looking for a dedicated and experienced Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our collaborative, high energy team.



In this role, you will manage all aspects of our payroll, benefits, and retirement income while having the opportunity to expand your knowledge and expertise beyond payroll and benefits. As part of our supportive and fast-paced environment, you'll work alongside talented professionals, all while contributing to the overall success of the organization.



THE DAY-TO-DAY



As the Payroll & Benefits Specialist at Genoa, you will:



Independently oversee the day-to-day administration of our benefit programs, including benefits enrollment and employee inquiries, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Collaborate closely with HR to support salary administration and assist with data analysis, reporting, and process improvements to enhance program effectiveness. Lead the payroll process to ensure accurate and timely employee payments, deductions, and taxes. Liaise with benefit vendors to acquire and coordinate services, ensuring efficiency and alignment with company needs. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and advise on all aspects of benefits, and payroll activities, including preparation and filing of payroll remittances along with annual employee T4's and associated reconciliations. Prepare and maintain payroll documentation for compliance and audit purposes, and resolve discrepancies as needed. Generate detailed and accurate reports, leveraging data analysis to inform decision-making. Other duties may include certain accounts payable and general ledger tasks. Taking on additional duties as required to support the team and organization.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

Degree or diploma in Business Administration or Accounting. A minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll administration. Certification through the Canadian Payroll Association is an asset. Advanced proficiency in payroll systems and accounting software with strong compliance management skills. Knowledge of audits, income tax forms, RRSP, health benefits programs, and leave entitlement.

ELIGIBILITY

Please note that obtaining security clearances will be a requirement for this position, and applicants may undergo background checks, personal reference verifications, and other screening requirements. Because this position requires security clearance, candidates must be either a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident.
