As we grow, we're looking for a skilled Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our People & Culture team and lead the payroll function across the organization.
Position Overview
The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible for full-cycle payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees across all Rossdown entities. This role ensures payroll is processed accurately, on time, and in compliance with employment legislation and our collective agreement. The position also supports benefits administration and month-end financial reporting in collaboration with the Finance team.

Works closely with: Plant Leaders, Supervisors, People & Culture, and Finance teams
Location: Abbotsford, BC (On-site)
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
Ensure all payments comply with the collective agreement
Review and validate timecards and payroll changes
Manage terminations, ROEs, and statutory holiday pay
Track vacation and sick time; follow up on missing hours
Respond to payroll-related government inquiries
Year-End and Reporting
Process year-end activities including T4s, WCB and EHT filings
Create internal reports for management and finance
Prepare quarterly and annual payroll remittances
Benefits and Pension
Enroll new hires in health and pension plans
Reconcile benefit invoices and update changes
Coordinate with the People team on benefit documentation
Compliance and Documentation
Maintain payroll compliance with federal and provincial regulations
Track AWOL, sick, and unauthorized time
Maintain audit-ready foreign worker documentation
Technology and Process Improvement
Manage payroll using Payworks
Ensure pay codes are consistent across companies
Collaborate on paperless workflows with the People team
Qualifications and Skills
Required Skills and Attributes
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Experience with payroll software (Payworks preferred)
Confidential, professional, and customer service oriented
Education and Experience
High School Diploma required
PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) certification required
Minimum 4 years of payroll experience
Basic accounting knowledge (Accounting 1 and 2 an asset)
Solid understanding of Canadian payroll legislation
