Process payroll weekly and bi-weekly for all employees, including new hires, transfers, promotions, terminations, leave of absence, statutory holidays, deductions, Provincial and Federal taxes, garnishments, and handle payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Work with ADP specialist to ensure pay is processed within deadlines
Prepare the validation of all wages paid for audit purposes, and ensures approval received by divisional Plant Manager's.
Monitor account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of payments
Lead year-end payroll closing procedures, including reconciliations audit and balancing and filing all statuary required reports
Ensure accurate, confidential and detailed administration and reporting by following regulations, collective agreements, and company policies and procedures
Issuing Record of Employments (ROE's) to terminated employees
Reconciling and filing Union remittances
What Experience and Education You Need
Minimum 3 years payroll processing experience
Demonstrated in-depth understanding and working knowledge of payroll processing within a large company environment, payroll laws including multi-provincial and multi-company to include reciprocity and other payroll guidelines
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); some college preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
ADP Enterprise experience
Kronos experience
Physical Requirements
Requires the ability to sit for long periods of time, with frequent interruptions
Requires several hours per day of sitting, getting up and down from chairs, and reaching, or bending
Requires manual dexterity with normal hand and finger movements for typical office work
Talking, hearing, and seeing are important elements of completing assigned tasks
May require travel by automobile and airplane for business
May require visits to warehouse operations in temperatures at or below freezing
May require carrying loads related to travel and the occasional lifting, carrying, positioning, and/or moving of objects weighing up to 20 pounds
Requires the use of various electronic tools
