We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Payroll Analyst to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accuracy in payroll transactions, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires proficiency in accounting software and a solid understanding of human resources practices. The Payroll Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the organization while collaborating closely with HR and accounting departments.
What You Will Do:
? Process salary/hourly payroll for various locations, ensuring all payrolls are processed in
a timely and accurate manner
? Process special payments, taxable benefits, bonus payments, and other employee
transactions
? Ensure provincial and federal taxes are appropriately withheld for employees (new hires
or job changes)
? Analysis of payroll inputs and outputs to validate hires, associate changes, and
associate terminations to identify errors and take corrective actions to ensure payroll
accuracy
? Review payroll documentation for accuracy through audit reports and make adjustments
with required approvals
? Work closely with People & Culture partners, Benefit team partners, and Accounting
team on all payroll-related issues
? Handle all garnishments, deductions, and vacation accruals
? Maintain client confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
? Assist with year-end balancing; generate T4s, T4As, RL-1s, ROEs, and T2200s; and
create various payroll reports as requested
? Remit WCB/WSIB for each province, including follow-up and correspondence with each
provincial agency
? Help identify and drive process improvements
? Provide input for the development of policies and procedures for locations in multiple
provinces
? Respond to employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll matters
What You Will Need:
? A College or University Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field is
an asset but not required
? Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a multi-location environment
? Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation (holding or working towards)
preferred
? Working knowledge of Canadian payroll
? Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with employees at various levels of the
organization. Must be a team player with flexible work style.
? Strong written and verbal communication skills.
? Detail-oriented and able to work to tight timelines. Ability to work independently, a self-
starter, and energetic.
? Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
? Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word
? Experience with payroll systems preferred
? Ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential
information
