McCain Foods (Canada) is currently seeking to fill the role of Payroll Analyst, reporting directly to the Payroll Manager.
We are seeking a payroll professional with a passion for systems! The Payroll Analyst position is responsible for maintenance and upgrades to the UKG Pro Payroll system. The successful candidate will be responsible for system testing (in the UKG test database) of any system upgrades or ad-hoc projects. The analyst will also be accountable for project implementation into the live production environment. Additionally, this individual will train the payroll team and stakeholders on changes within the payroll software. Payroll experience in a complex environment is necessary as this position serves as a backup for all hourly and salaried processing and auditing functions.
Key Objectives

  • Collaborate with stakeholders at various levels to research and validate functional requirements in UKG Pro (special projects)
  • Elicit requirements using various methods, including interviews, discovery workshops, document analysis, site visits, business process reviews, use cases, personas, current state assessments, gap analysis, task, and workflow analysis
  • Create, process flows, and screen mockups to illustrate the requirements and scope of the project
  • Work closely with UKG Pro to ensure the product is continuing to meet McCain specifications
  • Take ownership of the delivery of features and capabilities throughout the system upgrade process
  • Analyze product issues escalated by the Support team promptly
  • Ensure quality, accuracy, and completeness of customer and internal communications
  • Work in compliance with government legislation and company policies
  • Working closely with Manager, Payroll and HRIS (EEC) to document and streamline all payroll procedures
  • The Payroll Analyst plays a key role in implementing process improvements and improving efficiencies
  • Manage the payroll email flow to ensure appropriate controls, and backup documentation exists.
  • Respond to customer inquiries in a timely, courteous manner (Payroll Mailboxes)
  • Prepare timely reports for Finance and month-end Vendors
  • Investigate and resolve payroll-related system issues in a timely manner
  • Strong knowledge of year-end procedures
  • Reconcile and issue T4/RL1 forms and summaries, and other relevant documents

Required Qualifications:
  • Superior planning skills with the ability to handle a large workload and facilitate the activities of dynamic workgroups
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills, with an ability to troubleshoot complex application issues
  • Exceptional research skills and resourcefulness
  • Proven ability to lead diverse groups of resources to solution agreement by leveraging influencing skills to drive consensus
  • Effective communication skills; listening, written and verbal; ability to communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Familiarity with the UKG Pro Environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot and identify complex software, hardware, and systems issues
  • Other projects and duties may be assigned

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in computer science or business discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years working with complex payrolls, hourly and salary
  • PCP Certification through the Canadian Payroll Association is an asset
  • Knowledge of payroll tax filings in Canada
  • Knowledge of garnishment processing both Federal and Provincial
