Amsted Canada has established a new Business Center in downtown Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. We are elevating our Shared Services Support (including Human Resources & Payroll) and our Global Technology teams (Security & Development) in PEI. These teams are instrumental in providing support to all Amsted affiliate locations worldwide.

Position Details

The Payroll Analyst at Amsted Canada is responsible for reviewing payroll data and payroll documents for inefficiencies and errors, checking whether all amounts are accurate based on hours worked and ensuring payments are processed timely. The Payroll Analyst will have excellent analytical skills along with the ability to spot numerical errors. Ultimately, maintain an efficient payroll process that complies with all federal and state regulations.

  • Process multi-state weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payrolls for over 2000 employees in both the United States and Canada
  • Analyze compensation \xe2\x80\x93 related data including wages and bonuses
  • Maintain appropriate documentation to substantiate data entry requests
  • Assists with gathering data for internal and external auditing of payroll policies and procedures
  • Document and implement procedures to streamline payroll processes
+ Create and maintain process and training documentation
  • Utilizes analytical and problem-solving skills to research issues, perform root cause analysis, and make recommendations for changes
  • Interprets pay policies, (e.g., vacation, LOA, disability, workers compensation, union contracts, government regulations, withholding exemptions, etc.) and ensures appropriate amounts/deductions are calculated and applied to the various accounts correctly.
  • A solid understanding of the Employment Standards Act and employee entitlements
  • Understanding of Canadian taxable benefits: RRSP, parking, overtime etc.
  • Knowledge of T4 balancing and processing -this position will play a key role in Canadian year end activities
  • Handle payroll inquiries as needed, this includes ROE\xe2\x80\x99s, employment verification, and third party requests for information.
Key Qualifications
  • Associates Degree in Finance /HR or 3+ years comparable experience
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP or other financial software
  • Experience using Ultimate Software and/or Kronos timekeeping, or an HR system similar.
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills and can prioritize work, with an emphasis on the accuracy and attention to detail coupled with ability to meet weekly deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task and work under various conditions that may include frequent interruptions
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Must be capable of working and performing independent of direct supervision.

Other Considerations

This position is located at our newly acquired PEI office, centrally located at the heart of downtown Charlottetown. The role is not considered remote. The Payroll Analyst will be working closely with the Shared Service team out of central United States and Human Resources in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
