Job Description


Overview

As the Payroll Administrator, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all aspects of the bi-weekly payroll cycle and benefit administration for employees. Other responsibilities include federal and provincial statutory remittances, payment and reconciliation of benefits, reconciliations, and various other accounting functions.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and verify employee transactions according to government regulations and applicable agreements.
  • Ensure the timely payment of remuneration to employees.
  • Update employee payroll data such as personal updates, required deductions, reimbursements, taxable benefits, and other payroll items that affect employee pay.
  • Process employee transactions daily in Workforce Management (time attendance) and provide support to employees, supervisors, and managers.
  • Reconcile and prepare statements for remittance payments of employee and employer deductions to the appropriate institutions.
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations for pension provision, Manitoba Health Tax, Employee Purchase Programs, staff clearing, mileage, diversity, and MB Blue Cross Benefits.
  • Provide support in the implementation and administration of corporate initiatives that impact payroll and/or employee deductions.
Qualifications
  • Certificate in Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) plus additional coursework to keep Certificate in good standing.
  • Three years of related in-house payroll experience, processing end-to-end payroll cycle.
  • Payroll experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of the application of payroll legislation, regulation, and related acts.
  • Intermediate knowledge of payroll regulated payments and deductions (Gross to Net Pay calculations).
  • Knowledge of and experience working in an in-house HRMS system.
  • Intermediate computer skills combined with working knowledge of HRMS/payroll systems and Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
  • Interpret and apply pension and benefit regulations and payments.
