Responsible for one of the biggest projects in Metro Vancouver (such as the CF Richmond Center!), Calgary and Toronto, our client is no newbie at building communities with shops, restaurants and high-rise homes. They show no signs of stopping anytime soon and now they are looking for a Payroll Clerk to join their team!ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
This role is best suited for a candidate who loves the world of payroll and is looking to take on additional responsibilities, with higher volume in a fast-paced environment. Working closely with the corporate accounting and operations teams, you\xe2\x80\x99ll have a chance to take on the full cycle of payroll and eventually grow long-term with the company!
ABOUT THE POSITION
Reporting directly to the Payroll Manager, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in processing full-cycle semi-monthly payroll for over 200 employees (salary, hourly, commissions). Working with managers to review timecards, overtime vacation etc.
  • Resolving payroll discrepancies prior to transmission
  • Assisting Corporate Accounting Manager to review and verify expense reports, ensuring reports are in-compliance with the expense policy
  • Maintaining accurate employee records in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
  • Administering the Employee Group Benefit Plan (including maintaining accurate employee records and status changes with insurance providers)
  • Assisting in preparing monthly reconciliation reports and correcting any gaps or missing deductions
  • Assisting in preparing payroll-related remittances and filings (EHT, EI, CPP, Workers\xe2\x80\x99 Compensation and other tax forms as required)
  • Processing information for onboarding new hires, resignations and terminations. Sending ROE to Service Canada
  • Administering appropriate calculations for special payments and final pay for terminated employees
  • Reconciling payroll-related accounts and GL accounts on a monthly basis
  • Assisting in preparing for month-end, year-end process and annual T4 summaries
  • Completing year-end government remittance
  • Assisting in internal and external audits
  • Managing RRSP/TFSA/DPSP enrollments
  • Providing customer service to all internal and external stakeholders regarding inquiries and concerns
  • Assisting with financial management of payroll & benefits by identifying trends and/or irregularities in cost and/or usage of various programs and recommending actions to address
  • Ensuring compliance with all provincial and federal regulations (Employments Standards Act and Tax authorities in BC and AB)
  • Researching best practices while providing recommendations to continuously improve the payroll process
THE REQUIREMENTS
  • At least 1-2 years of full-cycle payroll experience
  • Post secondary education in payroll or related
  • Knowledge of payroll related legislative requirements (including CRA and ESA)
  • Proficiency in ADP Work Force Now
  • A Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certificate (or near completion) is an asset
COMPENSATION
  • $50,000 \xe2\x80\x93 $65,000 (depending on experience)
  • 2 weeks vacation + 1 week off during Christmas
