The Payroll Administrator provides a short-term contract / temporary role in the downtown Toronto financial hub,What you get to do every day:- Answer questions and requests related to payroll information- Perform review and verification of source documents- Provide help with all internal and external audits of payroll- Calculate employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments to establish payroll liabilities- Able to reconcile employee deductions and other liabilities- Organize and compile summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages in order to draft relevant reports- Collect, calculate, and enter relevant data to maintain payroll records- Other duties as assigned- Report needed changes after maintaining payroll operations according to established policies and procedures- Enter changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers as part of managing payroll records- Guarantee company compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines- Ensure employee confidence by protecting payroll operations and confidential information- Retrieve and assess information in order to resolve payroll discrepancies- Draft relevant year-end reports, as well as weekly, monthly, and quarterly ones, for department heads- Proficient knowledge of basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen- 2+ years of relevant experience in payroll- Certified Payroll Professional will be given preference- Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"- Prior experience working with high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc.- Earlier experience working with various types of accounting software desired- Ability to enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data- Command of Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills- Mastery of internal controls- Earlier work involving ADP - Payroll- Hands-on experience with payroll systems for 100-500 employees- Comprehension of Local Payroll Tax- Experience with Multi-state Payroll- Proficiency in Payroll software- Proficiency in Ceridian- Mastery of federal and state payroll regulations and requirementsRobert Half is the world\'s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
