Robert Half might have a Payroll Administrator position that\'s right for you, if you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, know how to effectively problem solve, and possess a solid knowledge of Microsoft Office software. The Payroll Administrator position is a long-term contract / temporary opportunity based out of Toronto, Ontario. If you\'re able to perform all functions necessary for the preparation and processing of employee payroll, an innovative company has an opening for a Payroll Administrator you might be interested in.

This is a Maternity leave coverage for 18 months hence the Payroll Specialist should be able to work independently and within a team.

This role is a hybrid role. There is a potential for this role to become into perm with a chance to grow within the role after this contract.

What you get to do every day

- Assisting with Payroll processing and benefits administration for salaried and hourly employees

- Reconciling vacation pay, employee deductions and other liabilities

- Reporting into the VP of Finance

- Preparing relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports for circulation to department heads

- Secure confidential payroll operation information and maintain employee confidence

- Report needed changes after maintaining payroll operations according to established policies and procedures

- Compile all information in reference to summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages for reports

- Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines

- Perform other tasks as necessary

- Put together summaries of employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments and employee federal and state income and social security taxes to calculate all payroll liabilities

- Exercise review and verification of source documents

- Updating payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers

- Collect, calculate, and enter relevant data to maintain payroll records

- Provide assistance as necessary for all internal and external audits related to payroll

- Handle all payroll information questions and requests

- Data entry, document management, file creation and previous records experience required

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills

- Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements

- Prior experience using accounting software

- Proficient with high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc.

- Knowledge of internal controls

- Proficient knowledge of basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen

- Certified Payroll Professional will be given preference

- 3+ years of relevant experience in payroll

- Foundational knowledge in Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)

- Command of Ceridian

- Experience with Full Cycle Payroll

- Comprehension of payroll systems for 100-500 employees

- Demonstrated knowledge of HRIS Payroll System

- General familiarity with independent systems (Payroll)

- Background working with Local Payroll Tax

- Previous experience working with Paychex Payroll

- Earlier work involving Multi-state Payroll

- Adeptness in HR Payroll System

- Solid understanding of bi-Monthly Payroll

- Knit Payroll experience highly preferred

- Good understanding of Multistate Payroll

- Practical knowledge of International Payroll

- Payroll experience highly valued

- Strong familiarity with Employee Benefit Program

- The ideal candidate will be highly-skilled with exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills
