Payroll & Admin Officer

to support our growth.

You will report to the Payroll & Admin Manager. You will be part of the broader Finance & Legal team, working hand in hand with other team members and the HR department. Canada and USA scope will be the main focus of this role, but the scope might evolve over time together with the evolution of the company.




Responsibilities will include:


Payroll:

Maintain up-to-date payroll records and reports; Validate payroll inputs; Process bi-monthly payroll for all employees (we are using Justworks for USA and an accounting firm for Canada); Stay updated on labor laws and payroll tax regulations to ensure ongoing compliance; Ensure correct processing of benefits, deductions, bonuses, and allowances; Work hand in hand with the other members of the Finance team to ensure that all necessary information is readily available.

HR admin :

All HR tasks related to new hires joining Akur8, or employees leaving Akur8:

+ Ensure registration of newcomers across all Akur8 systems and tools : HR system (HRIS, Payroll, Expenses, Travel...), health insurance, pension plan, etc.;
+ Prepare and ensure execution of all end of contract documents for employees leaving the company;
Manage newcomers' onboarding process for all admin aspects; Manage / implement employee benefits : health insurance, pension plan (401K and REER), life insurance, commute...; Answer to employee requests for all internal HR admin related questions (sick / maternity / paternity leave, holidays, transportation, certificates, benefits, etc.); Manage employee absences; Work in collaboration with HR and Legal on labor laws and compliance issues.

We're looking for a serious and rigorous mind that has a solid hands-on experience managing payroll. Ideal candidates possess the following attributes

:

Bachelor degree in Human Resources, Payroll or related field. 7+ years of experience managing Canadian/USA payroll and/or HR administration. Solid understanding of payroll and labor legislation. Proactive, eager to learn, and results-oriented, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively Excellent attention to detail and confidentiality. You are used to managing multiple projects and workflows. You have an international background and have worked in global environments. Bilingual in English and French
