Position Summary
The Pavilion Manager is responsible for overseeing and leading daily Pavilion operations while ensuring an exceptional guest experience. This role combines hands-on leadership, food and beverage service excellence, facility oversight, staff supervision, and compliance responsibilities.
The Pavilion Manager plays a key role in representing Pelee Island Winery's hospitality standards and creating memorable guest experiences. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about

Oversee day-to-day Pavilion operations to ensure smooth, efficient, and guest-focused service
Maintain high standards of hospitality aligned with Pelee Island Winery's service expectations
Handle guest concerns professionally and resolve issues quickly and effectively
Support service flow and guest experience during high-volume periods, events, and peak weekends
Ensure the Pavilion is prepared daily for opening, service, and closing requirements
2) Food & Beverage Leadership
Lead and support food and beverage service execution to ensure quality, consistency, and efficiency
Ensure responsible alcohol service and Smart Serve compliance across the team
Maintain enthusiasm and knowledge of wine service and guest engagement
Support service quality and guest experience through coaching and strong floor leadership
Coordinate with internal teams to ensure product availability and service readiness
3) Facility, Maintenance & Grounds Oversight
Ensure Pavilion facilities and surrounding guest areas remain clean, safe, organized, and guest-ready
Monitor equipment needs, maintenance concerns, and facility conditions
Coordinate contractors and service providers for repairs, inspections, and upkeep
Conduct routine inspections and take corrective action when issues arise
4) Team Leadership, Coaching & Training
Supervise Pavilion employees and ensure proper staffing coverage
Train new and seasonal staff on service expectations, policies, and procedures
Coach employees to maintain high performance and professionalism
Address workplace concerns promptly and respectfully
Support performance management by documenting expectations and escalating issues when required
Oversee Pavilion inventory and supply ordering, receiving, and stock management
Monitor operational expenses and ensure compliance with company policies
Support budget awareness, cost control, and waste reduction initiatives
Prepare reports and operational updates as requested by management
Participate in management meetings and contribute to operational planning
6) Health, Safety & Compliance
Enforce all health and safety standards and ensure staff compliance with safe work practices
Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, or security concerns
Support compliance with applicable regulations (health & safety, service standards, etc.)
Maintain a proactive approach to hazard identification and risk prevention
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Frequent standing and walking throughout shifts
Ability to lift and carry light to moderate loads (supplies, boxes, event materials)
Exposure to outdoor conditions (heat, rain, wind) and high guest interaction
Fast-paced seasonal hospitality environment requiring flexibility and resilience
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Minimum
2+ years
of leadership experience in hospitality, food & beverage, tourism, or operations (preferred)
Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills
Professional communication and customer service skills
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to problem-solve quickly and remain calm under pressure
Knowledge of food & beverage operations, inventory, and basic financial management
Must be available to work
weekends, evenings, and overtime
during peak periods
Smart Serve Certification

Seasonal Scheduling Expectations
While this is a permanent role, the Pavilion operates in a
seasonal hospitality environment
, with peak season running approximately
May through October
. During this period, the Pavilion Manager must be available for increased operational demands including weekends, events, overtime, and variable hours based on guest traffic and business needs.
