is a member of the health care team and is responsible for providing direct care activities under the direction of a nursing provider in a collaborative practice environment and reports directly to the Director of Inpatient Services.
Duties will include but not limited to:
providing and/or assisting with the personal hygiene, elimination needs, and the daily activities of patients;
organizing, setting priorities and performing the basic care procedures according to the patient care plan (bed making, mobilization, physical exercises, temperature, pulse and respiration, blood pressure and oxygen Sat, basic catheter and colostomy care, enemas, etc.);
documenting the patient care activities consistent with policy and system requirements;
responding to the patient call system and collaborating with other nursing providers to plan for and meet the specific patient total care needs (physical, emotional, spiritual);
assisting patients with meals and other dietary supplements as required;
monitoring and recording patient Intake and Output according to the patient care plan;
assisting with admission, discharge, transfer and post-mortem care, and identifying patient belongings with accuracy;
assisting in the care of equipment and supplies used in the provision of patient care;
maintaining respectful working relationships with all employees and demonstrating respectful and confidential interactions with patients' families and the community;
performing other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent as recognized by the Employer
Resident Care Worker certification program or equivalent as recognized by the Employer
Good Communication and Judgement Skills
Capable of sustained physical activity
Additional training in dementia care or palliative is an asset
Other Qualifications:
Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.
