The Pastoral Assistant works in collaboration with the Pastor and parish staff and leadership to create a community of missionary disciples.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Parish Ministry Support and Coordination:
Key lead in the coordination of all parish ministries, ensuring consistency with the parish message, vision, pastoral priorities and direction and providing leadership to the various ministry chairs.
Liaison with the pastor and staff regarding parish ministry activities, promoting communication internally and externally between all parish ministries to ensure that all are moving in the same direction
Interact with most ministry heads regularly
Ensure smooth communication between ministries
Answer questions and give advice to ministry heads
Discern what should be directed to Father vs. handled by ministry
Organize meetings with Father and collaborate on smooth ministry operations
Keep ministry heads informed about upcoming events
Place ministry supply orders, complete purchase orders (PO's) and cheque requisition
Organize and coordinate ministry activities
Maintain relationships with ministry leaders and support as needed
Help recruit new ministry members
Organize training sessions
Fill in as ministry lead when none are available (e.g., Hospitality)
Assist with creating Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs) and forms for each ministry/liturgy
Faith Formation:
Support the parish in forming adult disciples by providing resources, training, and Christ life, and learning opportunities.
Contribute to the development of a new model that prioritizes and promotes the faith formation for adults in their vocation as Disciples of Christ and for parents and their families as the primary teachers of the faith.
Develop a framework for adult faith formation as well as support for families, while considering the reality of our local church and its challenges, by providing flexibility in implementing the framework within our parish community.
Working with current catechetical leaders to develop a sustainable family faith formation program.
Support Holy cross chaplaincy by participating in strategic planning

Qualifications:
Experience working in a parish
Knowledge and/or education in faith formation and evangelization
