Role Overview
We are seeking passionate, reliable
Ontario Certified Teachers (OCT)
to join our instructional team and support our rapidly growing student base.
The Sunray Academy Teacher will deliver
live 1-hour instructional sessions
(approximately
5-7 per week
) to international OSSD students, provide timely and constructive
grading and assessment
, and support students through
group chats, encouragement, and occasional 1-to-1 meetings
.
This role is ideal for OCT educators looking for flexible part-time work with a high likelihood of transitioning into a full-time position as our 2025 cohorts expand.
We welcome teachers who can cover multiple subject areas, especially
Math, English, and core compulsory subjects,
but we are also open to hiring teachers with strong subject-cluster specialties.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction
Lead engaging
live 1-hour classes
, 5-7 times per week, following Sunray Academy's course outlines and pacing guides.
Deliver lessons aligned to Ontario curriculum expectations and tailored to international learners.
Assessment & Grading
Mark student assignments, quizzes, and culminating tasks in accordance with Sunray's assessment policies.
Provide timely, actionable feedback that supports student growth.
Maintain accurate gradebooks and documentation.
Student Support
Facilitate student success through:
Course timeline monitoring
Encouragement and participation in class/group chats
Occasional 1-to-1 check-ins for academically at-risk students
Communicate proactively with students about expectations, deadlines, and progress.
Professional Responsibilities
Attend internal check-ins or PD sessions as required.
Collaborate with the academic team as Sunray transitions into full-time program delivery for international schools.
Uphold academic integrity and Sunray Academy's standards of professionalism.
Qualifications Required
OCT Certification (in good standing)
Experience teaching in the Ontario secondary curriculum
Strong communication skills and comfort with online teaching platforms
Ability to work with culturally diverse international learners
Preferred
Ability to teach across multiple subjects (e.g., English + Humanities; Math + Science; etc.)
Experience with Moodle or similar LMS
Prior experience teaching ELL/ESL or international learners
Scheduling & Commitment
Live sessions can be flexibly scheduled but must remain consistent for student stability.
Expect 5-7 hours of synchronous teaching per week, plus time for grading and student support.
High likelihood of transition to
full-time
in mid-2025 as Sunray expands partnerships and full-year cohorts.
