Shepherd Village is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Security Front Desk. You will support the Facilities department while working in either a long-term care or retirement setting. The Security Front Desk is responsible for keeping residents comfortable, independent and in control of their lives by providing a clean and safe environment.
What You Will Work On
Reporting to the Director, Facilities, the successful applicant will be expected to represent Shepherd Village in a courteous and professional manner, while maintaining amicable relationships with staff, Residents and their families, in keeping with our Corporate Values.

How You'll Create Impact
  • Keep residents comfortable, independent and in control of their lives by providing a clean and safe environment.
  • Maintain efficient and effective performance of all aspects of the Security position for Shepherd Village, maintaining amicable relations with residents, family members, other responsible parties and staff.
  • Participate in the overall therapeutic program of care as developed by Shepherd Village to promote the well-being of each resident (physical, spiritual, social, emotional) and in any activity that enhances their lives in the five domains of care: Independence, Control, Comfort, Involvement and Community.
  • Work in accordance with all Shepherd Village policies and procedures.
  • Parking enforcement.
  • Make security patrols for all the buildings of Shepherd Village.
  • Monitor staff and question the incoming and outgoing traffic at the main entrance.
  • Effectively handle all incoming phone calls regarding staffing issues and those from residents with concerns.
  • Approach and question trespassers on the property.
  • Respond to any nighttime emergencies or any alarms in the buildings and communicate with other staff on duty regarding any emergencies.
  • Some grounds maintenance is required on the property.
  • Provide call up service for residents of the Village.
What Are Your Skills and Experience
  • Experience in dealing with emergency situations, including fire safety emergencies such as fire panel concerns and staff training.
  • Valid Security License obtained through the Ministry of Community Safety & Correctional Services, required.
  • Proficient & courteous in communicating to residents, visitors and staff.
  • Proficient use of switchboard and other communication devices.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Good written and excellent interpersonal, oral and customer service skills orientated toward the needs and challenges of the mature adult and their families, Shepherd Village staff and other clients.
  • Able to work on own initiative with minimal intervention.
  • Able to independently prioritize work responsibilities while maintaining a high degree of efficiency.
  • Cooperative and flexible team player, able to build and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Exercise confidentiality in all matters pertaining to the Organization.
