Bodwell High School's Boarding Program is currently recruiting candidates for the positions of
Part Time and Assistant Youth Advisors
to assist with activity programming, youth guidance, and campus supervision as part of our dynamic Boarding team.
Bodwell High School, a private boarding school founded in 1991 and located at the waterfront of North Vancouver, offers grades 8-12 to students from over 30 countries (www.bodwell.edu). Our Boarding Program offers a week-round youth development program for 300+ on-site boarders. Program features include life skill development, healthy living, mentorship, academic support, sport & hobby learning, outdoor education, community service learning, and cooperation with school staff and overseas parents.
We are currently looking for
part-time staff
to work closely with a group of students (ages 13-18). Hours will vary throughout the evenings and weekends. Shifts may include:
3:00pm-11:00pm OR
4:00pm-12:00am OR
5:00pm-1:00am
Various day and night shifts on weekends as needed
The successful candidate should be fluent in English, possess skills and experience in working with adolescents, have demonstrated capability of handling emergencies -- and should love to have fun with teens! Candidates must be positive role models in their own daily habits and life outlook. Backgrounds in youth guidance and counselling, life skill mentorship, outdoors training, youth leadership, teaching, coaching, tutoring, and health care are assets. Overseas and multicultural experiences are very helpful to the job.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
Working closely with a group of 40-50 students in a designated hall
Assist with designing and facilitating of weekend activities, life-skills workshops, hall parties, and encouraging participation
Supervising study time in the evenings
Help cultivate a fun, warm, safe, harmonious, and youthful atmosphere in the dormitories
Through constant presence and mobility throughout all the dorm spaces, monitor individual students' conditions and performance by observing them, interacting and conversing with them.
Collaborate with other Advisors to help to guide students in developing good daily habits.
Tend to common responsibilities with colleagues and complete other tasks as requested by the admin.
Follow safety and emergency preparedness guidelines; attend to emergencies
