About the Part-Time Professor - Electrical Techniques and Electrical Apprenticeship Role:
The successful candidate will be required to teach courses in the Electrical Techniques Post-Secondary and/or the Electrical Apprenticeship programs at the North campus. Course delivery will include delivery of lectures and practical labs. In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include: curriculum development; lesson planning; assessing student progress and achievement; and class management.
The successful candidate will be expected to establish an effective learning environment and work as a collaborative team member. In addition, the successful applicant will encourage student learning and have a desire to share technical knowledge; be expected to play an active role in student advising, student recruitment, and graduate placement. This individual will also contribute to the overall direction of the program, assisting with the promotion and marketing of the program, and developing and maintaining strong industry ties.
In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include: classroom management and evaluation; use of Humber's LMS system - Blackboard, designing and developing courses and labs; program promotion, recommending program advisory committee members; and contributing to the overall direction of the department. The incumbent will also provide leadership in partnership development with particular emphasis on securing collaborative, industry driven student projects.

Education
The successful candidate will have a Journeyperson Certification as well as a minimum of 8-9 years of relevant experience and teaching in the electrical field. Formal studies in adult or higher education, a Master Electrician or Baccalaureate is also an asset.
Experience/Skills
A minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience, and teaching experience in the electrical field.
Strong organizational skills, well-developed interpersonal communication and problem solving skills
Superior mediation skills and a commitment to teamwork
The ability to work in a diverse, dynamic, multicultural environment
A demonstrated ability in curriculum development and delivery
A demonstrated teaching ability and an understanding of the learner-centred approach to teaching and learning. Exposure to an LMS system (blackboard) preferred
