Part-Time Product Photographer

.


With over 50 retail stores across the country, Urban Barn is a national retail chain offering high-quality furniture and home decor. We're passionate about making our customers and our employees feel right at home.

This is a part-time position to work 8 hours per day, 3 days per week.

Availability on Monday is a requirement. The other two days must be between Tuesday - Friday (no weekends)

Working with the Marketing Team and other in-house photographers, you will be responsible for

capturing product photography

. The ideal candidate will be organized, a self-starter, keen eye for detail with a passion for photography and home decor.

What You'll Do

Set up lighting, and composition for all merchandise, ensuring the quality is consistent, represented accurately, and in line with brand guidelines. Photograph all products for our website as well as for signage, advertising, and social media and deliver assets according to scheduled timelines and direction. Working alongside Brand Stylist, produce consistent images that accurately represent color and proportions of products. Photograph, retouch, and color-correct images within a color managed workflow, and crop product images as needed. Manage and maintain studio equipment, including calibrating monitors. Manage studio lighting effectively to photograph products with a wide variety of sizes, shapes and degrees of reflective finishes. Produce test shots with a variety of options to choose from when implementing a new process in how the item/category is to be featured. Work alongside Purchasing Coordinators to organize and set up weekly shot list. Maintain and update lists and trackers for photography and file images in appropriate folders.

What You Bring

Post-secondary education in Photography or field experience. Strong working knowledge/experience of DSLR camera and studio lighting equipment and techniques. Previous experience with product photography and working in studio is a requirement. Strong working knowledge of image retouching and color correction in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. Comfortable with Microsoft Excel. Ability to work well independently and with a team. Excellent time management skills. Demonstrated organizational communication skills with a keen eye for detail. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure. Experience in Retail, Interior Design or home furnishing is an asset. Experience with commercial or website photography is an asset.
