Responsibilities
Dispense prescription medications accurately according to physician orders and hospital protocols
Provide expert consultation to healthcare professionals and patients regarding medication usage, side effects, and interactions
Ensure compliance with all legal, safety, and regulatory requirements related to medication management
Monitor patient responses to prescribed therapies and adjust medication plans as necessary in collaboration with medical staff
Maintain detailed documentation of medication dispensing and patient interactions in accordance with hospital policies
Oversee medication storage, inventory control, and proper disposal procedures
Educate patients and their families on medication administration, potential side effects, and safety precautions
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive patient care plans
Requirements
Valid pharmacist license in the state of practice
Hospital experience preferred, especially in acute care or pediatrics settings
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration protocols, and patient care standards
Excellent communication skills for effective patient interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to all regulatory guidelines
Prior experience with medication management systems is a plus
