Part-Time Pharmacist
to join our team. The ideal candidate will ensure the safe and effective use of medications, provide excellent customer service, and comply with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, ensuring safe and effective medication administration, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and experience in various healthcare settings, including pediatrics and acute care.
Responsibilities
Review and interpret physician orders to ensure accuracy in medication dispensing.
Counsel patients on the proper use of medications, potential side effects, and interactions.
Monitor patient medication therapy for effectiveness and safety, making necessary adjustments in collaboration with healthcare providers.
Maintain accurate records of all medications dispensed and provide necessary documentation for compliance with regulatory standards.
Educate patients and caregivers on medication administration techniques, especially in pediatric cases.
Participate in clinical rounds within the hospital setting to provide pharmaceutical expertise to the healthcare team.
Stay updated on new medications, therapies, and industry trends to enhance patient care practices.
Experience
A Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution is required.
Previous experience in a hospital or acute care setting is preferred.
Familiarity with pediatric pharmacotherapy is a plus.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology is essential.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team focused on patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
Dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
Counsel patients on the proper use of medications, potential side effects, and interactions.
Ensure compliance with all applicable pharmacy laws and regulations.
Maintain accurate patient records and pharmacy documentation.
Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff.
Provide immunizations (if certified and applicable).
Stay up-to-date with new medications and industry trends.
Qualifications:
Valid Alberta Pharmacist License in good standing.
Bachelor's or Doctorate degree in Pharmacy (BPharm/PharmD).
Proven experience in a retail or clinical pharmacy setting preferred.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
