The Healing Institute at Forbidden Plateau is a premier mental health and addiction treatment center located near Courtenay, British Columbia. Situated on 14 acres of private forested land overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the Coast Mountain range, our classic wood lodge offers a serene and intimate environment for up to 24 residents. Participants can choose between shared lodgings and private rooms with ensuite bathrooms, each providing ocean and mountain views, allowing them to start each day immersed in Vancouver Island's natural beauty.

Our mission is to assist individuals struggling with mental health and addiction in finding their path to a quality life. We specialize in small, individualized treatment programs addressing addiction, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) using the most up-to-date evidence-based practices. Our multidisciplinary team maintains a high staff-to-participant ratio and creates personalized treatment plans to ensure that every participant receives focused interventions designed to support sustainable recovery.

Reporting to the Facilities & Admissions Manager, the Part-Time Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment at The Healing Institute. This role ensures that all areas of the facility, including participant rooms, common spaces, and offices, are cleaned and maintained according to health and safety standards. The Housekeeper plays a vital role in supporting a welcoming and hygienic space that enhances the well-being of participants and staff.

Role Specific Accountabilities

Cleaning & Sanitization:

Perform daily cleaning of participant rooms, bathrooms, common areas, and offices. Sanitize high-touch surfaces to maintain infection control and hygiene standards. Empty trash and recycling bins regularly and ensure proper waste disposal. Launder and change linens, towels, and other laundry as required.

Facility Maintenance:

Restock cleaning supplies, toiletries, and other necessary items. Report any maintenance or repair needs to the Facilities & Admissions Manager. Assist in organizing and maintaining storage areas for cleaning supplies and linens. Ensure proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety regulations.

Supportive Environment:

Create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for participants and staff. Maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion when working in participant spaces. Work collaboratively with other staff to ensure a seamless and supportive environment.

Qualifications & Education

Previous housekeeping or custodial experience preferred, especially in a healthcare or residential setting. Knowledge of cleaning procedures, sanitation standards, and safe chemical handling. Ability to work independently and efficiently in a structured environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness. Physical ability to lift, bend, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks. Strong work ethic and reliability. Respect for privacy and confidentiality. Ability to maintain a calm and positive demeanor in a healing environment. Time management and ability to complete tasks efficiently.
This is a part-time position based onsite at The Healing Institute. The shifts will be three days a week available Sunday-Thursday based on the needs of the facility.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $22.00 per hour
