Job Description

Are you able to fight fires and respond to emergency calls day, night, and even on weekends? Do you like teamwork? Can you communicate clearly under difficult conditions and in a French-speaking work environment? Do you care about the safety of citizens and want to be involved in prevention? Join our Fire Department composed of firefighters who are dedicated to the protection of citizens by participating in prevention activities and by providing emergency services. Our part-time firefighters have a strong sense of belonging to the Hawkesbury Fire Department. You could develop such a feeling as well. You will undergo a complete training to become a firefighter and you will obtain different IFSAC Certifications. In addition, the department's part-time firefighters receive a remuneration for external guarding, providing a basic income.

Qualifications and requirements



Be at least 18 years old. Have a high school diploma or equivalent recognized by the Ministry of Education. Proficiency in French (although French is the working language, English is mandatory). Possess a class G driver's license. The DZ driver's license is an asset. The DZ driver's license must be obtained within the first 12 months of employment. Have a clean criminal record. Have a driving record of less than 6 demerit points Be in a physical and medical condition compatible with the firefighting required tasks. Have a minimum vision compatible with the firefighting required tasks. Live withing a non-detrimental response time to emergency response and be available to respond to emergency incidents at all time, within a prescribed period. Be available at all times to answer emergency incidents within a reasonable time.

Certifications considered major assets



Possess the Canadian Red Cross First Responder certificate or equivalent. Successful completion of the following training: Ontario Incident Management System, Level 100. Possess IFSAC or Pro Board NFPA 1001: Professional Qualification Standard for Firefighters, Level 1 and II, or equivalent. Possess IFSAC or Pro Board NFPA 1072 or 472: Hazardous Materials and Weapons of Mass Destruction Responder Professional Qualifications Standard, Awareness or Operation Level. Possess IFSAC or Pro Board NFPA 1002: Occupational Qualification Standard for Drivers and Operators - Pumper.
