Position Information:
Durham College is seeking an experienced and motivated professional who shares our commitment to quality and student success. The Faculty of Business and Information Technology requires a part-time professor to teach Canadian Securities 1.
This first course, Canadian Securities 1, is followed by Canadian Securities 2. These courses combined help prepare students for careers in investment and financial planning within the financial services industry. Upon completion of each course, students are eligible to write the Canadian Securities Institute licensing examination. In this course, students gain an understanding of financial markets, corporations, and their financial structures, while learning to analyze and interpret corporate financial statements and distinguish between debt and equity instruments. Students are introduced to the capital markets, the flow of funds between savers and borrowers, and the features, pricing, and trading of various financial instruments including fixed income, equities, derivatives, managed products, structured products, and fee-based accounts.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR PART-TIME FACULTY APPLICANTS:
Part-time recruitment is ongoing and is dependent on when courses are being taught and the need for faculty to teach.
Part-time faculty teach up to 6 hours per week with varied schedules Monday through Thursday between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm and Fridays between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.
