Durham College is seeking an experienced and motivated professional who shares our commitment to quality and student success. Professional and Part-Time Learning (PPL) requires a part-time facilitator to teach the course entitled \xe2\x80\x9cSelected Topics in Psychology\xe2\x80\x9d Course Code \xe2\x80\x93 PSYC 1051. This course will be delivered online.

The responsibilities of Durham College Part-Time Facilitators include, but are not limited to:

1. Creating a positive learning environment that accommodates students\xe2\x80\x99 diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences and individual learning styles;

2. Utilizing principles of adult education to actively engage students in the learning process;

3. Effectively using educational technologies to support learning as well as managing and posting grades;

4. Develop and execute a curriculum that uses appropriate strategies and tools to assess student learning;

5. Ensuring that all course content is current and relevant;

6. Working independently and demonstrating initiative; and

7. Working effectively with students, the program team and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will meet or exceed the following qualifications:

1. Minimum of five years of recent experience that relates directly to the topic being taught;

2. Holds a Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree (or higher) in Psychology or a related degree. In addition, a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s or Master\xe2\x80\x99s of Education are considered assets.

3. Teaching experience at the post-secondary level, with the demonstrated application of adult educational principles and teaching/assessment methodologies;

4. Teaching experience in a fully online environment;

5. Superior skills in the areas of verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, critical thinking and problem-solving;

6. Excellent organizational and time management skills;

7. Track record in meeting deadlines;

8. Experienced in the use of technology to support student learning and manage grades;

9. Self-motivated and independent worker who also functions well in a team environment;

10. Committed to life-long learning;

11. Understanding of the Ontario community college system.
