Job summary

Our summer and after-school program is seeking energetic and talented teachers in

English for grades 2 - 12 students

. We tailor our curriculum for the needs of both struggling and gifted students to reach their full potential. We are looking for enthusiastic tutors to deliver our curriculum, evolving with your input. You will work with individual students one-on-one and in group classes.

Teaching responsibilities

Meet students in-person Assist students with schoolwork - book study, essay writing Deliver a pre-designed curriculum, employing proven study aides Design individualized learning plans for ELL students Assign and mark additional homework assignments and essays Perform regular assessments of student performance and compile progress reports Collaborate with the program director to improve the curriculum and ensure the delivery method best suits the student

Qualifications and skills

5+ years of teaching experience teaching English Undergraduate degree in English or humanities is required BC (or other provinces) Teacher Certification is highly preferred TESOL/TESL/TEFL Certification is an asset Have taught standardized exams before (SSAT, SCAT, ACT, SAT) Excellent communication and presentation skills Enthusiastic and flexible in teaching methods that promote the well-being of students

Employment status

This position involves tutoring in a self-employed capacity. The number of hours may vary per week and per student, with no guaranteed minimum number of hours.
