Job Description

We are looking for a kind, enthusiastic, innovative, and flexible native speaking/fluent English teacher to teach small group English classes to students. Classes range from grades K-Gr.12.

Teach from a well-crafted curriculum. Opportunity to create new courses of interest. Small, personable school environment with professional teachers and staff. Enhance your teaching skills, enjoy flexible hours which can increase over time. You will start with a few classes per week and build a custom work schedule over time. Some online classes available. Classes are 1.45 minutes. Great for newly graduated University students, people who want to develop their teaching skills, and seasoned teachers looking for part-time, flexible work. Teachers are expected to:

Lead small group reading and writing classes Manage classes and ensure that all students' needs are being met Help students with reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, speaking/pronunciation, and other language skills Be able to correct and explain grammatical errors in written work to help students improve Be flexible in allowing for different student needs

Who are we?

Reading Town was founded by Dr. Joshua Song in New York in 1987. Working together with language specialists and educators, Dr. Song developed state-of-the-art English and mathematics learning programs. There are currently over 300 Reading Town campuses in Canada, the United States and other countries. We offer a unique learning experience for students from kindergarten to grade 12. We strive to focus on every student's strength and encourage them to develop their talents and learn with enthusiasm.

Minimum requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree; previous experience of teaching or working with ESL students is definitely an asset.

2. Ability to teach a variety of subjects/ages is an asset.

3. Must speak English fluently.

4. ECE/ECEA is an asset but not required.

5. Great communication skills and patience. You will be interacting with both our students and parents.

6. Good classroom control and management skills.

7. Must be familiar with B.C. educational system/school curriculum.
