Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and responsible

Part-Time Afterschool English Teacher (K-6)

to join our team. The ideal candidate will deliver engaging and effective instruction, helping students strengthen their language foundation while fostering positive study habits and self-confidence. Some lessons may also include

basic art, handcrafting elements for younger students

Work Schedule & Arrangement

5 days per week, 2-3.5 hours per day (2:45 pm - 6:15 pm) Evening or weekend full-day schedules may be available (if applicable) 3-month probation period

Responsibilities

Deliver English language lessons (reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, speaking) for K-6 students Design engaging, age-appropriate classroom activities and assignments tailored to varying learning levels Assess student performance through classwork, homework, and practice exercises Prepare student progress reports with constructive feedback for parents and guardians Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Psychology, Arts or a related field (or current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in these fields)

Near-native fluency in spoken and written English, with clear and neutral pronunciation suitable for classroom teaching

Strong oral communication and classroom management skills Ability to design and deliver engaging lessons for elementary school students Must be legally eligible to work in Canada (citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit required)
Preferred Qualifications

Valid teaching certificate or license (e.g., BC Teaching Certificate, Canadian provincial teaching license, or equivalent international credentials) Valid Emergency or Standard First Aid & CPR certification (child and adult) Experience teaching ESL/ELL students Advanced degree in any field other than English
Job Types: Part-time, Casual, Seasonal, Internship / Co-op
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
