The Role
The Part-Time Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient pickup of donated materials for Habitat Greater Ottawa ReStores. Operating from our Stittsville-Kanata location, this role also supports operations at the Distribution Hub by assisting with the organization and pricing of incoming materials. The Driver plays a key part in supporting our mission by engaging with donors, maintaining high standards of customer service, and ensuring the timely and safe transport of donations.
Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate you will:
Safely operate Habitat Greater Ottawa vehicles to pick up donated items in a timely and professional manner.
Assess donated items to determine acceptability in accordance with Habitat Greater Ottawa ReStore guidelines.
Provide friendly, knowledgeable information to donors about Habitat for Humanity GO and the ReStore mission.
Accurately log donated items and donor details for inventory and tax receipt purposes.
Support operations at the Distribution Hub, including sorting, organizing, and pricing donated materials.
Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of assigned vehicles.
Work collaboratively with truck assistants, volunteers, and ReStore staff to ensure smooth donation operations.
Assist with heavy lifting and customer loading when needed.
Adhere to all health and safety standards and organizational procedures.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support daily operations.
Knowledge and Skills
Required:
Valid Ontario Class G driver's license.
Clean driving abstract and criminal record check.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to lift and move heavy items repetitively throughout the day.
Proven ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers.
Responsible, punctual, and safety-minded.
Preferred:
Minimum of 3 years' related driving or delivery experience.
Experience operating a 26' cube truck.
Working Conditions
The successful candidate is expected to work/live in Ottawa and/or the surrounding area.
The position works in a vehicle and drives in all weather conditions; attends donor worksites; safety footwear is always required.
