Location - Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.
In collaboration with the School of Dentistry, the Dental Hygiene program serves the well-being of society through education, research, and public service. We offer student-focused learning that promotes patient-centred care and community outreach through research, scholarship, and partnership in an environment of trust, respect, and integrity.
The School of Dentistry invites applications for part-time, casual hourly academic staff in the Dental Hygiene (DH) Program at the University of Alberta. Please note, this posting may be used to fill multiple positions.
The regular active period for this clinical teaching position is from September to April. Each clinical teaching position available is for up to one day per week or two half-days per week.
Responsibilities:
Dental Hygiene Clinical Instructors are required for the following clinical rotations:

  • Clinics with DH YR2, YR3, and YR4 students in Kaye Edmonton Clinic, University of Alberta
  • Boyle McCauley Dental Clinic
  • Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Dental Clinic
  • Long-term Care Facilities
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Dental Hygiene, but other degrees acceptable.
  • Current registration with the ACDH
  • Registration to practice with local anaesthetic
  • At least three years of clinical dental hygiene experience
  • Understands ADPIE, ACDH Standards of Practice, ACDH Code of Ethics, Dental Hygiene Profession Regulation in Alberta, and the Health Professions Act
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinical teaching experience in an accredited dental hygiene program is preferred
  • Experience with older seniors and/or complex patients is preferred
  • Computer literacy with axiUm or similar electronic medical records system (i.e. Dentrix, Gold, etc) preferred
