Position Purpose
Reporting to the Manager of Chef Ric's (Manager), the Catering Services Driver (Driver) is responsible for the prompt, safe and efficient delivery of catering orders to our customers providing them with superior customer service. They are expected to operate the delivery vehicle in a safe manner at all times, obeying all rules of the road, and follow all appropriate company policies and procedures. The Driver will have a "What Ever It Takes" attitude with our customers providing them with professional, consistent, reliable, punctual service at all times.
Major Responsibilities
Driving company catering vans abiding by all road safety laws.
Delivery of catering orders to varying locations throughout the city.
Loading and unloading of catering supplies and equipment; frequently lifting up to 70 lbs.
Set up of hot and cold buffets, beverage stations, and other catering displays as per event specifications.
Communicate with customers and event staff to ensure satisfaction and address any immediate needs.
Assist in inventory checks ensuring all catering items are accounted for before and after events.
Supporting the Catering Services Department as required.
Pick-up supplies as requested by Chef or Sous Chef.
Provide excellent customer service.
Maintain cleanliness of delivery vans interior, exterior and delivery trolleys.
Refueling van as required using The Ottawa Mission's gas credit card.
Daily walk around vehicle inspection and interior inspection.
Updating and maintaining daily inspection log-sheets.
Updating and maintaining van usage/mileage logs.
Adhere to all organizational health and safety requirements.
Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
Professional representation of The Ottawa Mission through responsible driving and appearance.
Proper handling and accurate completion of all necessary paperwork related to daily responsibilities.
Other related duties as required.
Other Requirements
Education:
High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
Drivers Education Certificate preferred
Experience:
Minimum one (1) years' delivery experience.
Qualifications:
Valid Driver's License with a clean driver's abstract (Must be able to provide a copy of abstract)
Excellent driving skills
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task
Ability to work in a very fast paced environment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Must be a self-starter with a sense of urgency
Must be able to work with minimal supervision
Flexibility in work hours, including early mornings
Bilingualism (English/French) considered an asset
Working Conditions:
High degree of physical activity involving: walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, bending, lifting, driving
Ability to lift up to 70 lbs
Ability to drive in all weather conditions and all traffic conditions
Ability to maintain alertness while driving
Must be comfortable working in a challenging environment that has the potential for confrontation and/or exposure to violence
