Position Summary:
Donnelly House provides temporary housing for individuals aged 16+ experiencing complex mental health and houselessness. Donnelly House aims to provide an environment that is supportive and assist clients in building life skills necessary for transition, whether that is long term supportive housing or independent housing within the community. Donnelly House is a risk reduction program and operates on a Recovery Capitol model.
Part-time caseworkers are to provide day to day support to Donnelly House clients such as assistance with cooking, cleaning, and connecting to the community. We aim to assist clients in working towards their version of their next steps towards independence.
Responsibilities:
Administration
+ Accurate daily documentation via our database (YellowPencil), logbook entries, contact notes, incident reports, and medication book entries.
+ Assisting staff in intake/discharge documentation and assessments
+ Completion of monthly reports as needed
Client Support
+ Deliver client centred and person first care, using a strength-based approach to meet clients where they are at
+ Assist in creating and following through on individualized care plans for each client
+ Build meaningful and collaborative connections with each and every client
+ Assist with life skill building such as cooking, cleaning, coping skills, and much more!
+ Assist in recreational activities - on-site and off-site- such as crafting or field trips
+ Support clients in breaking down big goals into smaller attainable steps
+ Address challenges with the clients
+ Attend appointments/viewings/recreation with clients via ETS
Health and Safety
+ Deliver services in accordance with agency policy and procedures
+ Work with clients to understand Donnelly House rules
+ Maintain a safe, secure, and caring environment
+ Communicate all concerns and pertinent information to your direct supervisor and other staff as necessary
+ Ensure cleanliness of Donnelly House by completing assigned staff chores
Community Engagement
+ Liaise with various other professionals within the community - build relationships with other community partners
+ Maintain positive relationships with the community
Agency Collaboration
+ Contribute to a positive work culture
+ Assist and support other caseworkers as needed
+ Practice our agency mission, vision, and values within every interaction
+ Build and maintain professional relationships with other staff members
+ Attend and participate in bi-monthly staff meetings
Additional Responsibilities
+ Participate in core agency trainings as needed
+ As directed by direct supervisor
Qualifications / Skills:
Possessing a diploma/degree within human services or a related field - or working towards one
Minimum of 6 months experience working with adults with complex mental health and houselessness
Knowledge of risk reduction, mental health, client centred/person first care, and strength-based approaches
Ability to work effectively within a team and deal with crisis situations
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Conditions of Employment:

Valid Standard/Intermediate First Aid & CPR
The successful candidate will have open availability to work shift work as follows: 7:00am-3:00pm, 3:00pm-11:00pm, 11:00pm-7:00am, and 10:00am-6:00pm. This includes weekends and holidays.
This position requires frequent standing, usage of stairs, and occasional lifting (less than 50lbs).
What we offer
The starting hourly wage is $20.80 per hour, with a $2.00 premium for hours worked between midnight(12:00AM) and 6:00AM.
